Back to the drawing board.

Back home and after a wonderful Christmas with family.

I hope you  had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa was good to you.

Queensland was not the place to visit this Christmas.  It was rain rain and more rain. a cyclone up north and floods everywhere.   We unfortunately decided it best to cut our holiday short by one day and good job we did as the highway closed the next day.   We made it home safely. pot holes in the road and rain most of the way home.

The year is almost at an end.  I hope 2011 brings the best creations out for us artists.  During 2010 I have enjoyed the wonderful standard of work shared by many blogger artists and I know 2011 will be even better.
Happy drawing and painting to you all.

Back into the Lorikeets now and should have it finished in the next few days.

Merry Christmas.A Danish Christmas tree illuminated with burni...Image via Wikipedia

To all my blogger friends and guests.  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas whether you are staying home or away on holiday.     Stay safe and I look forward to sharing our art in the new year.  Thank you for your support through the year which I have appreciated and enjoyed .

We will be heading off to meet my daughter Sandra and family for Xmas.   We are each travelling halfway  to make it easier for us all.  Australia is such a big continent.  They will travel from Townsville QLD  and us from NSW.     Staying at Harvey Bay  QLD,  which is approx halfway.
Hope the weather improves for us all.  It's rain, floods or wind all down the east coast.

My very best wishes to you  for a Healthy and  Happy 2011.

Big Hugs.   Dors.  xx

Lorikeet WIP #3

A little more done. Still have work to do on the lower part of the left bird. I wasn't happy with the lower part so some erasing/removing of color has been done so now to hopefully put that right.     I think it will now stay on my drawing board until after Christmas. It will be something nice to come back to after the holiday break.

Kangaroos in our garden

The family portrait.
Mum Dad and Bubs..

Look what we found munching on our grass in the garden late  afternoon today. We have seen them really close but never in our own garden.
The house in the background is our next door neighbours. not sure if you can pick the wire fence between us. It was so exciting to see them. Hope they decide to come regular... there is plenty of grass to share with them. We are totally amazed at just how much wildlife we are getting on a 1/2 acrea lot.

Check out the short movie. The Kangaroos looking left then right to cross the road... leaving our garden.

The cutest Possum

We had a visit from the Possum again last night,  Not so timid this time.  maybe he was too hungry.  LOL
Enjoying some dried fruit here.   Last week it was Bananas.  Guess we will have to go get plenty of Bananas in stock for them.     No baby this time.  I hope it is still alive.
We are so thrilled that we have all our little visitors on just a 1/2 acrea.

A short break.

I have had a little forced break.   All is settling down now and I will get back to my artwork.

My dear Mum passed away in the UK.  She reach the good age of 87
Mum suffered from dementia.

We also had friends visit from Queensland last weekend.

We have started the landscaping in the garden,  Nev has been busy building a retainer wall at the back and the side of the house.

I have uploaded a couple of videos on my YouTube channel.   http://www.youtube.com/user/dorspage?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/Ce0m3eAJ85k

I hope in the next couple of days to catch up on all my bloggers friends recent work that I have missed.

Hugs
Dors.

More wild life in the Cross's garden.

I had a nurse of this gorgeous Blue Tongue Lizard this morning as he seems to have made our garden his home.
The photo is on Nev's camera. I will post it when Nev loads it onto his computer.

Here are a couple from yesterday.
He is enjoying a nice lump of minced steak....  Premium quality too.   LOL.

Another addition to our wildlife.

Feeding time close to our home.

The Roos feeding time at sunset. This was taken just around the corner from where we Live. They cross the main road through the estate so we have to be careful driving, especially at dawn and
dusk. We are hoping that the council will put up signs so that people driving through will be aware that we have such beautiful wildlife here. The Roos are are not tame, they are quite cautious of us humans. Aren't they gorgeous ?

Kangaroo... on Canson 220 gsm.

Here we are with TAKE TWO of the Kangaroo.    This time I have done it on Canson 220 gsm paper. I am much happier with it now.  Also it is a whiter paper and gives a much better contrast.
I got a good few hours in yesterday in the art room which was so relaxing.
I still have more work to do on this...  more layers of fur.  I should get this finished today.

Kangaroo WIP #3

Still more work to be done. I am not really happy with the paper, it seems too soft and flimsy. (Strathmore 400 series med drawing paper) I am thinking about starting this again on Arches paper that seems to have more body. I am finding the paper is creasing and I am just not happy with it.
Decisions decisions. LOL. lot of work but I am very fussy. Looks like it's a start over... Take 2 about to begin. :)

Brushtail Possum in our garden

Look what we found in the tree in our garden.  They have been coming to visit for 3 nights now.  So we will feed them and hope they come every night.
We also have Kangaroos hopping around here as we have bush area around the estate. I suppose they will disappear when all the estate is built on.
We had 6 Roos cross the road in front of us last week early in the evening.
It's lovely to have the wild life so close and we will also plant many grevillea trees that the birds love

Check out what is in Sue's back garden...LOL doesn't take much to keep us girls happy.
