Chakra WIP comission. #1

8 x 10" Canson 220 gsm smooth paper.

I am much happier with the above drawing on smooth paper.  :)

8 x 10"  Arches 300 gsm Medium Paper.

I am going to do this again as I am not happy with the paper for this work. It's a medium tooth paper and It is not working for me with the cat. so it's take two on a smoother paper.
This is not a pretty stage of the drawing. I like to get a rough blocking in and work on the fur once I know where everything needs to be placed. I can now get into the fine detail.
Chakra.  is in his Love Box. I will try to do more postings with this WIP  as I work through this beautiful cat. He looks so comfortable he makes me feel sleepy. LOL "Wake up Dors. work to do"

This is looking amazing, Doreen. I love the couch surrounding this sleepy beauty!

Been feeling sleepy these last few days myself Dors, hence the lack of updates on my blog! Must be those winter blues...anyways, lovely start to this cat portrait! Have a great day!

Thank you Sherry and Colette.

Hope the winter blues blow away soon Colette. The Spring is well on it's way hopefully.
We are heading for our winter. if you can call it winter...we never get snow here in the hunter valley but it can get a little cool for us.

Sherry. yes his little couch is gorgeous..wouldn't mind one myself... have to be a lot larger ..

Hi Dors, You have already captured his expression. Love seeing the stages and the process. I think it's time for a nap.

Have a great day.

I'll have to watch for this one to be finished. I love cats. I've been away from the blog for just a bit. After blogging daily, I needed to take a break. Plus I've been working on a commission piece in pencil of all things! Right up your alley. It's a surprise for someone so I can't post it on my blog until it's been presented to the "giftee".

Hi Gretchen. Thank you. I thought you might be taking a well earned break after all the daily painting.
I am looking forward to seeing your commission.

Chakra's coming along beautifully Dors. I too prefer a smoother paper for graphite work.

I hate having to re-start work but sometimes its the best thing to do isn't it?

I've just had to do the same thing because I spoiled a cp double human portrait by working on it at 3am (sleepless night) which was such a silly thing to do ... duh!!!!

Hi Sue. Thanks you. I too hate starting over but if I am not happy with it then I prefer to do that.
sorry you had the same thing... not a good idea working at 3am. I have sleepless night too. I usually make a cup of tea and play solitaire on the computer while I have the tea...then I can usually get off to sleep.
I hope the CP work is going good for you now.
