Orang- Utan

Posted by Picasa
Once again I would like to thank Rod for his generosity in allowing me to draw from one of his many superb photographs.  You can see  Rods amazing photography here
This is going to be rather a large drawing on Arches smooth surface.  approx 22 " x 30"  It is a full sheet.

note
I have been taking a much needed little break from my blog after finishing Jessie's portrait.
I had so many things I needed to catch up on around the home.
I hope to catch up on all your blogs in the next few days .
Happy Drawing and Painting.  :)

This is going to be a beautiful portrait, Dors. I love him already. His eyes are so realistic! I look forward to your next post!

He is looking like a very handsome primate, Dors! I hope your summer is going as mild as our winter this year! I see you are going bigger, but have you ever checked out the Australian Miniature societies in Tasmania and Queensland? I like to toggle betwween painting miniatures and full sized pieces.

Love the eyes so far Dors, they are amazingly soulful.

Looking great, Dors. I love it already. Working big is a whole lot different than worker on a smaller surface, isn't it?

This is going to be great. I'm really looking forward to watching it develop.

Hilda... Thank you so much. I will try to post lots of updates.

Deb... I always think the wild animals look so regal/handsome. They are so interesting. I have just done an ATC and I do struggle so much with miniature work...

Colette... Many thanks. I do love drawing the eyes best and work hard at getting the right look.

Jill... I like working large, gives me lots of room for detail. Thanks for your kind words Sis. xx

John.. Many thanks. I will keep the updates coming and glad you are interested.

Nice to see you back, I noticed you had taken a break. I guess you are enjoying a great summer and that certainly takes up your time as well. That is a big drawing you have undertaken, I will look forward to seeing the results.

Thank you Joan. went through ok. I have had the same thing happen to me.
It may take a while for this piece but I will post plenty of updates. It's good to get the graphite pencils back in hand.

Thank you Wendy. We are having a very mild summer this year, lots of rain everywhere is so green instead of the usual brown during this time. We are also getting more than our share of humidity too. Grrrrrrrrrr hate that.

LOL I will let you know if this big drawing is the first and last or if I will stay drawing big.
I see you are having a very interesting time at the moment..Have fun xx

Oooh I do love the look of this one Dors and can't wait to see the progression - my goodness you have a gift with doing graphite animals. I know how you feel about catching up - it is so hard to stay on top of everything sometimes :)
