Monty (Pug) Commissions. WIP #1

Here is the start of Monty.  Just getting a base started on this.  I am doing this on Arches Smooth 300gsm support.

Koala #4 WIP

The Koala is almost finished.  Just some Gum Leaves to add.  This being the Koala's diet.

Koala #3 WIP

It's starting to take shape now. I will work on this over the Easter break. Will be a quiet Easter for us this year. The fur on the Koala is a slow precess and interesting.

Koala #2 WIP

Moving along a little here. I am finding this quite a challenge.  Fluffy fur,  short fur, Long fur.   I think I have fixed that crooked nose . On the left will be a tree that he is climbing. .

The Koala is just mapped out and showing the dark areas.  Ready to start the lovely soft fir.

My next project is a Koala. The reference I am using is an awesome photograph taken by Tony who has very kindly given me permission to use his photo for this drawing.

Bob Cat Commission Finished.

Bob is now finished. 8 x 10" on Arches 300gsm smooth acid free paper. (15 hours)

Bob Cat WIP #2

Here is an update on Bob Cat. Still a lot to do yet. Nose, mouth and lower body work do..also more layers on all the fur.

Bob Cat commission. WIP #1

Bob Cat on Arches 300gsm smooth paper ( White) . 8" x 10" (25 x 20 cm) in Graphite.

The paper always seems to show up gray but it is actually an ivory white.

This is just the first layer of graphite pencil, building up the layers, Bob is a black and white cat, 18 years old.

Bighorn Sheep

I have had a real fun few days thanks to Gary http://gkeimigart.blogspot.com/ A few of us had a super challenge. Thank you Gary for the opportunity to draw from one of your superb photographs. Check in Garry's site and see his wonderful paintings. A very talented man.

The Hut. Finished.

The finished Hut. A real fun project. I know that Graphite and CP mixed tends to be muddy but where I put color, I kept the graphite to a minimum. The Ink didn't work to well. I will do another project using ink but will do it on watercolor paper and not film. I found that Ink and drafting film are very compatible.

We took this photo 6 yrs ago on a visit to the USA. Hut at Coles Pond. Vermont.

Update #4 on the Hut

Above is the Ref photo I am working from.

I did the trees with a brush and graphite powder to roughly get some shape and then using color pencil to do the foliage which is just an impression of leaves. I have switched from the Pitt Pens and now using graphite powder and Sepia powder. Still using Prismacolor pencils and graphite pencils.

Update #3 on the Hut

I am enjoying this project so much. I think there will be a little more sepia ink added...I will wait and see how it goes. Right n ow I am just going with the flow on it.

Update on the Hut

Here is an update on the Hut I have decided to abandon the Pitt Pens. They are not working. I will continue with Prismacolor pencils and the graphite. they seem to be working good to get that real old rustic look.

Experimenting

Here is the start of the Hut. I am still not sure how this is going to end up

I am experimenting a mixed media drawing on drafting film. using Faber-Castel Pitt Pens,(Black & Sepia) Prismacolor Pencils and Graphite pencils. . You may say OMG.. but I feel like trying this out on an old timber hut. I will post an image of where I am up to tomorrow when the light is better. If it doesn't work ... What have I to lose. Just a little creative time.

An English Bull Terrier... We are hoping to get a Bully as soon as we have had the new home built. The house plans are in council so hope the builders will start soon.

We already have a name for her.. "Jessica" she will probably get Jessie most of the time. Maybe when she is naughty it will be Jessica.

We have already got a ball chuck er.

I don't think I would like thos crawling over me even though I am not afraid of spiders.

It's pretty close to the actual sixe of the spider. You can just see the eyes and the mouth 4 tiny white dots.... that's the eyes and the mouth underneath is closed.
