Lion. 28 x 42cm on Waterford & Bockingford drawing paper 300gsm
I got a little more done yesterday. It's slow work all the hair from now on is in the shadow. I am enjoying this challenging male very much.
It's been so cold here this week, a good excuse for staying indoors and in the art room. Our temps have been as low as 4 deg C with daytime high's 14 - 17. which is cold for us. It should be a little warmer today as the rain has set in. tossing up... housework - v- artwork. Maybe a little of each. LOL.

Dors, this is coming out so beautifully. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece. He is absolutely perfect already.
How gorgeous is he?
And really Dors - only one winner in the art work versus *cough, splutter sneeze* option
This is amazing! It is just breathtaking how the soft areas contrast with the boldness of being a lion. It's both powerful and gentle at the same time. It kind of brings a tear to me eye!
Thank you so much Hilda, Pat and Katherine for the lovely comments.
Tissue for Katherine. Hugs.
Hi Dors,
He is Majestic!!! Your work is an inspiration.

Thank you so much Sue. :)
You know lions are favorites of mine and I love this one. I particularly like the contrast of the dark background with the light, soft fur and the way you've taken some of the drawing beyond the background. Can't wait to see it finished!
Dors, I agree with all the above you are a master of tone. That is so very difficult to master. As usual great work.
Thank you Jan & Joan. I always appreciate you lovely comments. I should have this finished soon.
Hi Dors, I've been playing catch-up on reading your blog and seeing what you've been up to. This guy is so ... well Majestic like everyone says! When I went back and saw the beginning and then followed on to this one, wow the detail and work you've been putting in! I look forward to seeing the finished work!
I know what you mean when you end up not enjoying the process, but your finished work doesn't show any of that. Your "Mags" is stunning!
Thank you Barbara for your comment on both Mags and the Lion. I appreciate you feedback so much.
