Update #4 on the Hut

Above is the Ref photo I am working from.

I did the trees with a brush and graphite powder to roughly get some shape and then using color pencil to do the foliage which is just an impression of leaves. I have switched from the Pitt Pens and now using graphite powder and Sepia powder. Still using Prismacolor pencils and graphite pencils.

Update #3 on the Hut

I am enjoying this project so much. I think there will be a little more sepia ink added...I will wait and see how it goes. Right n ow I am just going with the flow on it.

Update on the Hut

Here is an update on the Hut I have decided to abandon the Pitt Pens. They are not working. I will continue with Prismacolor pencils and the graphite. they seem to be working good to get that real old rustic look.

Experimenting

Here is the start of the Hut. I am still not sure how this is going to end up

I am experimenting a mixed media drawing on drafting film. using Faber-Castel Pitt Pens,(Black & Sepia) Prismacolor Pencils and Graphite pencils. . You may say OMG.. but I feel like trying this out on an old timber hut. I will post an image of where I am up to tomorrow when the light is better. If it doesn't work ... What have I to lose. Just a little creative time.

We already have a name for her.. "Jessica" she will probably get Jessie most of the time. Maybe when she is naughty it will be Jessica.
We have already got a ball chuck er.

Goliath Bird Easting Tarantula ( Big B.......)

©Doreen Cross

I don't think I would like thos crawling over me even though I am not afraid of spiders.
Graphite 19 x 14cm on Arches smooth 300gm paper.
It's pretty close to the actual sixe of the spider. You can just see the eyes and the mouth 4 tiny white dots.... that's the eyes and the mouth underneath is closed.

Blue Tongue Lizard ... Update #3.

The size of this CP drawing is 33 x 26 cm on Drafting film.

Almost there. It's been a lot of fun doing this one. It was fun after doing the Lizard..I just worked the rest as it came to me. That's the best part of creating art.

Blue Tongue Lizard. Update #2

The size of this CP drawing is 33 x 26 cm on Drafting film.

Here is an update on the Lizard. I have decided to just make the background up as I go along. Didn't think that grass and bricks was a good way to go.LOL.
Still have a lot to do on this yet. The leaves and twigs take such a long time.

Blue Tongue Lizard

I have at last got around to trying out the drafting film. It's a great support to work on. Wish I had tried it sooner.
The Blue Tongue Lizard was roaming in our garden last week. Isn't he just the cutest. I never realized just how blue their tongue is.
I have a lot more work to do on this. I am replacing the old plant pop with a tree trunk. and have a nice face on photo of the lizard and maybe I will add the face on coming down the tree... I will have to see as it may look overcrowded. I will decide when I have done more on this.

The Boys (Commission)

Here is the finished drawing 23 x 30 cm Prismacolor Pencils on Arches paper.

This one has been a tough challenge for me and a feeling of being out of my depth.
I think it's time to stick with the animals, houses and floral art.
Human portraiture is not the easiest I know.
Makes the likes of Armin Mersmann's works look out of this world.
It all comes down to ........... Practice Practice Practice.

I am ready to start another little sweetie (Possum). I think you will fall in love with this one.
We fed him both nights when we stayed at the farm cottage nr the Jenolan Caves (Blue Mountains. NSW). He ate well, Ham, Rump Steak, Grapes. LOL. He posed well for us before we left, we got some nice photos.
Also while we were there. I almost stood on what I thought was an old dead snake...Hmmmmm Nev came along to see what I was studying...He said that is no dead snake. he is alive and well. He was a Highland Copperhead snake. (deadly) LOL
Here is a photo of the snake and the Possum.
